Mental Health First Aid Canada

Mental Health first Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis is resolved. The concept is based on the model of medical first aid. Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour training course delivered in four modules of three hours each. Participants must attend for the full two days to receive a Certificate of Participation.
The following mental health problems are covered: Depression, Substance Use Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, and Psychosis and the following mental health crisis situations are covered: Suicidal Behavior, Overdoses, Panic Attacks, Reactions to Traumatic Events, and Behavior Associated with Psychosis.
Anyone can benefit from Mental Health First Aid.

Nutrition on the Go – Better Choices

Do you find it a challenge to make quick, nutritious meals? Are you dashing out to work, to class or to a sporting event with no time to eat breakfast or pack a lunch? Or do you dread going home, not knowing what you are going to prepare for dinner? Most of us lead very busy lives which mean sometimes making healthy choices can seem too difficult or time consuming to consider. The happy principles of healthy eating apply wherever you eat. A little planning can help you make healthy food choices wherever you go. This session will provide you with suggestions to help you make “Nutrition to Go” fun, easier and healthier.
